It’s not bad, but it’s no more than you would expect in software of this type. The adjustment brush (or ‘Develop Brush’ in Photo Studio for Mac 8) has a Magic mode for more precise masking and object selection. Each can have up to eight adjustments applied – see the row of checkboxes at the base of the top panel. Photo Studio 8 editing tools ACDSee Photo Studio for Mac 8 offers local adjustments via an adjustment brush, linear and radial gradients. Most other programs would build a viewer like this into the organization panel, and it hardly seems to deserve a separate window. It simply displays selected images much larger with a filmstrip underneath. The View panel doesn’t really do very much. Normally, cataloguing software would integrate this ability into its organizing mode. It simply shows individual images as a large preview with an optional filmstrip below. I can see how it can be made to work, but it’s pretty limited by the standards of its rivals and compared to Lightroom or Capture One it looks from a different era. I’ve used a lot of image browsing and cataloguing tools and this is the oddest. You might argue that at least you don’t have to import your photos… well you don’t, but instead you do have to visit a folder before Photo Studio knows it’s there. Photo Studio does keep a catalog, of sorts, built up from folders and images as you browse them, and there’s a set of tools around this including an Image Well which shows all your photos. There is a search tool, but it’s quite odd – you drag a property from a panel on the right into the search field to find images that match that property. Categories can store images from different folders, which is useful. The Manage panel is essentially a folder browser with filters, but with the additional ability to tag images with ‘Categories’ (albums, essentially) and keywords. There is a further panel for the ACDSee 365 cloud storage sharing feature, but that’s a subscription service I’m not testing here. There are three main panels in ACDSee Photo Studio for Mac 8: the Manage panel, View and Develop panels. The ‘Special Items’ panel can search and filter the whole database (the Image Well shows all the images added) and the Calendar section below organizes images by date. Photo Studio for Mac 8 remembers folders or images you’ve browed in its database. How does Photo Studio 8 work? This is Photo Studio for Mac 8’s Manage panel where you browse your folders, search and organize your images. It’s a kind of do-it-all image browsing, organizing and editing tool in a similar vein to ON1 Photo Raw or perhaps even Lightroom, but as we’ll see it’s also quite different, and not in a good way. It does, however, make a Mac version of ACDSee Photo Studio, and this is the latest version. Jet Photo Studio is a comprehensive photo management tool that's a bit bloated in areas but offers some interesting features.ACDSee is known for its Windows photo editing software ACDSee Photo Studio 2022, its standalone photo editor Gemstone and Luxea video editor. The best way to share your photos in online though and JetPhoto Studio makes this relatively easy via Flickr or the JetPhoto server. The developer has also recently added geo-tagging for GPS recognition in Google Earth. Finally, it's worth adding that you send JetPhoto Studio images via SMS or infrared, to your friends’ mobiles, although this only works within the US. Unfortunately, however, there ¡s very little control over the types of animations and speed of the transitions. One of the better aspects of JetPhoto Studio is the ability to create screensavers, wallpapers, slide-shows and Flash movies from your collections. However, tags are not transferable from one album to another and you have to create a new one every new album you create. JetPhoto Studio also enables you to rate your own photos via a star system, as well as tag them. You can also batch resize your photos and protect them with a watermark. There is a set of basic editing tools which allows you to crop images and add a few effects such as sepia, black and white, image contrast, and auto enhancing. The main interface is well presented and allows you to browse photos by date. However, please note that you can enable or disable cookies by following the instructions of your browser. In addition, it is incompatible with other retinoids, so do not use others in the same routine. It is better to use this serum in your PM routines, since retinoids sensitize us to ultraviolet radiation and it is not convenient to expose to the sun directly after using it. This serum should always be applied after cleaning and using a good tonic that helps us balance the skin’s pH. I think it is a good product to start in the world of retinol, and the next step (in terms of potency and possible irritation) would be to use The Ordinary Granactive Retinoid 2% in Squalane and then The Ordinary Granactive Retinoid 5 % in Squalane and, finally, the different concentrations of Retinol in Squalane (from lowest to highest concentration, as you know). Would you buy it again? Yes, although now I want to move towards other products with a greater concentration. I am very happy with the results it provides and it has made me want to continue testing other products with retinoids. In addition, since it’s not irritating you can even use it on sensitive skin. In addition, the Tasmannia Lanceolata extract provides us with antioxidant properties to indirectly help us maintain the elasticity and firmness of the skin, fighting the free radicals that damage elastin fibers.Īs I said, this product is a fantastic solution to start progressively incorporating retinoids into our routines. This serum is cream colored and has a very pleasant, but light aroma.Īs for ingredients, in its composition we find, of course, Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate (granactive retinoid) and retinol, which help us improve wrinkles and fine lines, as well as skin texture. The product is an emulsion (as the name tells us) and has a milky, slightly creamy texture, which is quickly absorbed and leaves a very soft and pleasant sensation on the skin. This product gives us the benefits of retinol without the possible irritation associated to it, so it is a great way to start adding this ingredient into our routines.Īnd now that you know what it can bring you, let’s talk about the texture of this serum. That’s precisely when this Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion comes into play. If you are considering starting to use retinol to help your skin with any of the problems I have mentioned, you should keep in mind that it is a potentially irritating ingredient, so we should always start using it from lower concentrations and increasing the dose progressively. It is the ingredient with the most studies that support its effectiveness in helping us improve skin texture, reduce acne and improve wrinkles and fine lines (increasing the production of collagen and elastin, responsible for our skin’s firmness and elasticity). Retinol (vitamin A) is one of the great pillars of skincare. You can get the serum The Ordinary Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion on DECIEM, on SkinStore and on FeelUnique.Īs I said, this Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion is developed from a retinol derivative. Do you want to meet him and know if I liked it? Let’s check it! Many of you have asked me about retinol and retinoids (later I will share an informative post on the subject, talking in depth about this topic), so today I am going to talk about a serum composed from a retinol derivative: Granactive Retinoid 2 % Emulsion of The Ordinary. Hi! I had not shared a review of The Ordinary for a while, and today is finally the day. Branch the track as close to the stops as you can, and use a chain signal at the entrance to the branching. Here's how to help them notice, at least within your Yard:ĭo not allow any stacking of trains before the Yard stops. Therefore, two trains may pick the same stop while some distance away and not notice the interference. When a train is choosing a stop, it doesn't matter if another train is already planning to go there, but only whether the block is currently occupied. (There's also some kind of timeout or scheduled recalculation so trains don't remain stuck forever, though I think that might be newer than the version you were using.) Multiple train stops for each train station. From my tentative understanding of Factorio train mechanics, and tidbits I found on the web (I've been working on a very similar type of system recently), there are two factors here:Ī train does not recalculate its path every time it is stuck, but only when it leaves a stop or it passes a regular signal.Show the direction of incoming trains when being built.Indicator of train position when stopped at station on hover.
Finally, some comments are made about calibration system requirements for implementing new measurement techniques. Next a description of ongoing research in calibration measurement methodology is presented. Measurement methods for calibrating transducers are then discussed. It was a hub of immigration, banking and trade, operating the biggest cotton port in the country. The city was incorporated in 1839 and was, for a brief time, the capital of the Republic of Texas.īy 1900, Galveston was a vibrant regional center, outpacing its rival, Houston, in many regards. Spanish explorers, French merchants, and even pirates followed. Native Americans, who hunted and fished in its swampy marshland, were the original occupants of the island. Located on a barrier island about 70 kilometers southeast of Houston on Texas' Gulf Coast, Galveston has a rich and colorful history. In the face of utter destruction, the survivors rallied, quickly setting their sights on recovery, determined to rebuild their community. In 1900, Richard Spillane, the editor of the Galveston Tribune, aptly named it the “Storm King.” More than half of the buildings in Galveston were destroyed, blown apart by winds estimated at up to 240 kilometers per hour or lifted from their foundations and tossed by the 5-meter storm surge that swept over the island. The storm that decimated Galveston on that day has no name it wasn’t until the 1950s that the National Weather Service (then called the Weather Bureau) began its naming convention. By the next morning, the city lay in ruin, blasted by a Category-4 hurricane that killed an estimated 10,000 people - a quarter of the island’s population - and more than the combined death tolls of all other landfalling U.S. 8, 1900, when the skies over Galveston, Texas, darkened with rain and the winds blew strong, residents of this booming barrier island community believed their city could weather any storm. One more thing: Android fans, never fear, Filter Squad is currently building Android versions of its Discovr apps, which are on the way and will hopefully arrive by the end of the year. And now we’ll see what kind of adoption Discovr is able to find on Apple desktops. I suppose it’s easy to say that Filter Squad has potential when, in just 9 months, it has attracted over 1 million downloads across iOS devices. The raise follows Filter Squad’s recent victory at the Australian startup competition “Tech23”, where it was awarded $25,000 as the Aussie startup with “the most potential”. To accompany the release of Discovr Music on the Mac App Store, Filter Squad (the company behind the Discovr apps) is announcing that it has raised $1.1 million in seed funding, led by Australian VC firm Yuuwa Capital. What’s more, the app is built from the ground up to make the most of OSX Lion, but also supports backwards compatibility to Snow Leopard. Users can navigate through the musical ecosystem and discover new music based on what their individual tastes. The user experience is the same as Discovr’s first app, in that it uses data visualization and music recommendations to provide a visual map of the world of music. While Discovr’s iPad functionality is terrific, the visual layout is almost better suited to the larger screens of your desktop and laptops. Not that you will, but you could, were you so inclined.Īnd speaking of larger screens, as mentioned above, Discovr is now back into the music game with its new launch of Discovr Music for the Mac App Store. Those networks of similar apps can be expanded as the user surfs, and ostensibly, if the page were large enough, as I wrote in June, one could probably “create a massive, mind-melting map of all the apps on the App Store”. Like many other recommendation services, Discovr serves the user with its web of similarities based on a synthesis of machine algorithms and human curation. How does Discovr determine these similarities? Thank you for asking. Discovr Apps enabled users to search for their favorite apps, choose from Discovr’s curated, featured apps, at which point the tool will show your choice in an interconnected network of related apps that are linked together based on their similarities. The app attracted 150K downloads in three days, and by June, Discovr had taken its music discovery and visualization model for iOS to the apps world at large. With a few quick taps, users could see musicians’ videos on YouTube, band info and other extras, all while experiencing a fairly unique visual interface that provides an easy way to weave through connections between bands to discover new music and cool apps. To give a sense of context, in January of this year, Discovr launched a nifty iPad app that essentially provided users with an interactive map of the music world, displaying (among other things) connections between bands and artists in a graphical web. Discovr Music, put simply, makes it easy to discover new music from the comfort of your laptops and desktops. Of course, there’s no better way to celebrate these achievements than launch a new version of your app for Apple desktops, right? Today, the startup is also announcing the release of its Discovr Music app, which is available for $5 now on those Mac App Stores near you. Today, Discovr, the awesome tool that allows users to discover new apps for iOS (by way of interactive graphs) is announcing that it has passed the one million downloads milestone and has closed a $1.1M seed round led by Australia’s leading VC firm Yuuwa Capital.
